I am so excited. I'm nervous as shit, but I'm trying not to let that take away the joy of finding out that we are PREGNANT!!!
It has been a whirlwind. I just had a really good feeling that this was our month. Oh, I am so excited. I peed on a lot of sticks this time. I didn't get my positive quite as fast as I was hoping to, but I got it! I got a faint line last Tuesday night. Then a darker line in the morning...and FINALLY I shelled out some cash and used a fancy digital test that spit out the word PREGNANT almost instantly. I love the Clear Blue Easy commercial that says "Introducing the most sophisticated piece of technology you will ever - pee on." To see the hilarious commercial, click here.
This time though, Dave knew as fast as I did. Wednesday morning (January 23rd) is when I had a darker line. I crawled back in bed after showing the test to David and just laid there thinking Holy Shit...here we go again and I was so excited. Dave asked me "Do you think you're pregnant". And I said "Yes". He asked again, "Are you sure" and I said "Yes, at least we are pregnant for today. It's not a guarantee that we'll have a baby in nine months though". I think we've both smartened up a bit.
From there, I jumped out of bed and showered. I was so excited and was thinking with a smile how lucky this baby is. (And this is where I get emotional). How lucky our baby-to-be is to have an older sister that will be his/her angel. How special this baby is. Someday we will tell him/her all about Angela.
When I came back upstairs, I was going to tell David this, about how lucky our baby will be. But before I could, I walked into the bedroom, and there on the bed was a gift from my amazing husband. It was the Willow Tree Cherish – Awaiting a Miracle figurine. Of course I just started crying.
We are so excited. Cautiously optimistic and very very hopeful.
I scheduled our first appointment today with our new doctor. We go in on February 14th (Valentine’s Day) at 2:00 PM. We have a few hurdles we need to get past before we want to share the news with anyone…including our families. I know they have all asked that we tell them right away, but in an effort to spare them the worry and concern, we’re hoping to hold out until the second week of April. By then, we will know so much about our baby…including the sex!
This won’t be easy. I’m hosting a bachelorette party March 8th for one of my best friends. I’m hoping that because I’m the hostess, I can use the excuse of needing to be more sober then everyone. I made it work this past weekend at a wedding reception while I drank my “gin & tonics”.
I am determined to enjoy every minute of this pregnancy and I’m doing my best to take care of myself. I cut out all caffeine over a week ago (before I got a positive!). I’m exercising regularly and taking Yoga, which my new doctor recommended.

Week #5 – Sesame Seed

Deep in your uterus your embryo is growing at a furious pace. At this point, he's about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. He's now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, the mesoderm, and the endoderm — which will later form all of his organs and tissues.The neural tube — from which your baby's brain, spinal cord, nerves, and backbone will sprout — is starting to develop in the top layer, called the ectoderm. This layer will also give rise to his skin, hair, nails, mammary and sweat glands, and tooth enamel.His heart and circulatory system begin to form in the middle layer, or mesoderm. (This week, in fact, his tiny heart begins to divide into chambers and beat and pump blood.) The mesoderm will also form your baby's muscles, cartilage, bone, and subcutaneous (under skin) tissue.The third layer, or endoderm, will house his lungs, intestines, and rudimentary urinary system, as well as his thyroid, liver, and pancreas. In the meantime, the primitive placenta and umbilical cord, which deliver nourishment and oxygen to your baby, are already on the job.
